Golden Hour: the best early dinner deal in Fitzroy, three courses for $49

There is a lot to be said for eating early. You get the best tables, the kitchen is fresh, and when you walk back out onto Brunswick Street the whole night is still ahead of you. That is the idea behind Golden Hour at Masti — and it is the best early dinner deal in Fitzroy.

What is Golden Hour?

Golden Hour is our early set menu: three courses for $49 per person, served from 5pm to 6pm every Friday and Saturday at Masti, 354–356 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Book a table in that hour and you get three courses from the kitchen of Chef Manpreet Sekhon, the Curry Queen — for less than many places charge for a main and a drink.

In Hindi we call it sone ka ghanta — the golden hour. It is the start of the weekend done properly.

Who Golden Hour is for

Before a night out. Fitzroy's bars, gigs and live music are on the doorstep. Eat well at five, then head out with a proper dinner behind you.

Date night. A real three-course dinner for two without a late booking — and if you want to linger, the cocktail list is right there.

Families. An early sitting works for kids, grandparents and everyone in between. You are home before bedtime and nobody is too hungry to be polite.

Anyone who likes a good deal. Three courses for $49 on a Friday or Saturday night in Fitzroy is hard to beat.

What to expect

Golden Hour is built from the dishes Masti is known for: food from the live clay tandoor, slow-cooked curries, fresh naan and something sweet to finish. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are built into every menu — just tell us when you book. Want to see everything else we cook? See the full menu and current prices →

The full bar is open during Golden Hour too, including our Indian-inspired cocktails and Indian single malts.
